Today, “city that never sleeps” is stunningly illuminated more than ever. Today’s designers have a sophisticated array of sources, palette of colors and endless programs to run these lighting systems. Take to the waters with an expert AIANY guide to see the latest in how architects and lighting designers are creating a new, more dynamic nighttime experience. View the famously mesmerizing lights of Manhattan and explore the latest trends and innovations in architectural New York City lighting. There really is no better way to capture this view as the iconic NYC skyline reflects off the surrounding waters.

This two-hour narrated cruise will depart after sunset from Chelsea Piers in Manhattan and will include the Lower Hudson River, the Upper Bay and the East River to Midtown. Prominent examples we will examine include the Statue of Liberty from 1886, the Woolworth Tower in 1913, the 1931 Empire State Building, and New York City’s latest supertall buildings, including One World Trade Center.

The activity runs regardless of weather conditions. In the rare situation where the seller is forced to cancel the event, ticket-holders will be allowed to reschedule to another time (subject to availability), receive credit for a future event, or receive a refund.

- This cruise is a heavily-narrated tour experience. We recommend it for those seeking an informative, exciting, and content-rich trip. We require guest conversations be kept to a reasonable level so that narration can be heard by all. For guests looking for a more social experience, please consider our sunset cruises, day sails, city lights cruises or one of our other non-narrated events. This is NOT for children under 14. For guests with children under 14 please consider our Statue & Skyline tours, day sails or any other minimally narrated day time event.
